Sunday 6th May – a beautiful day – we were visited by 20 international students doing their internships through Magister, which is a company that specialises in bringing foreign students to South Africa and placing them in relevant companies as volunteers to complete their internships. The 20 volunteers from Sweden, USA and Germany met up with 7 children from the Overstrand Child and Youth Care Center and proceeded to do a 2 hour clean up in and around the Bot River lagoon. They then also cleaned the walk from Bot River lagoon to the Harbour where the children were treated to chips and cold drinks for their contribution to keep Kleinmond clean.

Altogether the 30 participants collected 8 bags of refuse and deposited them in trash cans on the lagoon beach and in the harbour. The students were then treated to a 2.5 hours hike up to Kasteel Kop, the Palmiet river and back again to the harbour before leaving for Cape Town. Their reaction to Kleinmond and its surrounds was "Absolutely stunning" with promises that they will be back shortly as many of them are in South Africa for quite a few months still. The clean up and mountain hike was organized by Klem 'n Kleinmond and the Tourism Bureau, with black bag donations from "die ontwerp-ateljee".
